If you have ever heard me say that pets are family, just know that I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I was that kid at parties that would disappear once I knew there was a dog or cat in the house, and I wouldn't be able to help myself from wanting to spend the rest of my time giving them scretches or playing fetch. I am still very much like that today, and I absolutely LOVE when my job includes photographing other people's pets. That's how it was for me when I got to meet Tytus, the most sweet and gentle boy.
A family dog, Tytus had been around blessing his family with joy and love for years. Recent aging put his health into question, and Tytus's family reached out to me for a possible final photoshoot. My heart sank at the thought of it. The thought of this pup that I hadn't even met yet not being around? Unfathomable. Unfair. Just no. I am so glad Trista reached out to me and gifted me the chance to meet all of them, and spend a gorgeous afternoon connecting wtih and photographing the goodest boy!
We met at the State Arboretum of Virginia on a super hot summer day. Luckily the shaded area by the greenouse just next to the parking lot offered a beautiful scene and cool shade without having to walk far. (I always find myself grateful for one thing or another when doing photo sessions at Blandy Farm. It's a beautiful spot!)
Strolling with this sweet family and getting to photograph such a gentle beautiful dog was a real gift to me and I will not ever forget any of them....especially Tytus (sorry humans!)
