When Vibrant Meets Chic...

You know that feeling you get when you're around that 'meant for each other' energy? I do! I feel it all the time, and I felt it 100% when I spent time with Ashleigh and Shayna for their engagement session. Two humans could not be more lovely together, and I get the honor of documenting their love!

When Ashleigh and I began talking about the concept she had for her engagement session, I became so excited and full of ideas. Ashleigh was looking for a vibe like in the Black Mirror episode San Junipero. If you've seen the episode, you know! Vibrant colors, fun music, two strong, intelligent, fun women destined to have their paths cross, and all the neon lights!!!! Their fun and vibrant style was being paired with their love for having fun together and doing what makes them happy. Date night is very special to them (as it should be to all couples!! Make sure you take each other on dates, friends!!!!) and they wanted to incorporate that into their session. They chose the first location of their session to be Spinner'sin Frederick, Md. Perfect for the vibe, lots of fun, and at a time of day when we practically had the place to ourselves! That gave us the opportunity to move around as we pleased, have our choice of games to play, and basically go wherever we want! It really was a magical time photographing these two beauties in their AMAZING outfits and seeing those beautiful smiles beaming. Just being with them makes everything better!

After we enjoyed playing games, dancing, and making art, we moved to location number two...The Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Baltimore. Originally a top contender for their big day, we wanted the chance to have some quiet time together at the hotel for photos. The hotel screams elegance, beauty and class, just like our brides, and I thought it was a perfect location for their engagement photos. Ashleigh and Shayna took a quick moment to change into their next outfits, and of course, again...stunning! They moved from vibrant pink to sleek black dresses and they looked incredible. Photogaphing them was a literal treat! We moved through the different areas of the hotel and captured photos that still make my heart happy today.

Being able to capture these photos means a lot to me. When I first began my career in wedding photography, gay weddings were super rare -- almost non-existent. I am overjoyed that today, gay couples are given the same legal rights to marry and have it be recognized as straight couples.....something that was WAY overdue. There has been so much intolerance and ignorance around the idea of two people in love getting married to each other, and I am grateful to see that start to change. I am even more grateful that I get to document the love story between these two amazing humans I am honored to call my friends <3 Scroll and see the magic!!
